Can I use blue and infrared LED light together in the same session?

Updated 1. January 2024

Immediate Answer: Yes—and combining them is practical and safe. A common approach is to use blue light first on active breakout areas (typically cheeks and chin), then switch to infrared light across the full face, neck, and décolletage for anti-ageing and repair benefits. That said, the order is flexible—the two wavelengths work on independent mechanisms and don't interfere with each other regardless of sequence.

The Science: Blue and infrared LED wavelengths work on completely different mechanisms at different skin depths—they don't interfere with each other. Blue light (antibacterial) works in the epidermis and upper dermis; infrared light (collagen-stimulating) penetrates deeper into the dermis. Using both in one session allows you to address two concerns simultaneously without any negative interaction.

Combined sessions are used in clinical settings and have a well-established safety profile across all skin types.

How the Face Repair Device helps: A combined session takes 10–15 minutes:

  1. Cleanse and apply Power Glow Serum
  2. Blue LED: focus on breakout-prone areas for 3–5 minutes
  3. Infrared LED: sweep across full face, neck, décolletage for 5–10 minutes

This is an efficient intensive treatment session, particularly valuable on cycling programme "active treatment" evenings.

Pro Tip: If you're new to the device, start with one mode per session for the first two weeks to understand how your skin responds, then layer both once you're confident.
