Will Advanced Face Repair cause peeling or dryness?

Updated 1. January 2024

Immediate Answer: For sensitive skin new to retinol, some peeling or dryness is possible as cell turnover increases. This is a sign of the treatment working. If it occurs, reduce frequency slightly and ensure moisturiser use afterward.

The Science: Peeling and mild dryness are normal signs of:

  • Increased cell turnover (dead cells shedding)
  • Retinisation (skin adjusting to retinol—temporary)
  • Barrier adaptation (skin strengthening in response)

This usually resolves within 2-3 weeks as your skin adapts. If it persists, frequency reduction helps.

Severe peeling or persistent irritation suggests your skin needs more support—increase moisturising, reduce frequency, or consult dermatologist.

How Nordic Formula Helps: If peeling occurs:

  • Mild (expected): Continue use, add hydrating serum (Power Glow Serum)
  • Persistent: Reduce to 4-5 nights weekly instead of nightly
  • Severe: Reduce to 2-3 nights weekly, ensure barrier support
  • Unresolved: Consult dermatologist (may indicate incompatibility)

Most clients experience mild peeling weeks 1-2, then adaptation by week 3-4.

Pro Tip: Mild peeling is actually a positive sign—your skin is turning over. Don't skip moisturiser thinking it will prevent peeling; moisturiser prevents the peeling from becoming uncomfortable irritation.
